Information and Transfer of Knowledge

Successful research and solutions for existing problems require a dialogue that is orientated towards the future and transcends states and interest groups. The SOG enhances such dialogue through the creation and support of national, international, and interdisciplinary co-operation.

The SOG also provides a forum for impartial discussions of contemporary political, economic, legal and social developments in Southeastern Europe. Furthermore, its goal is to illuminate the historical and cultural context of the area. To this end, we provide both a platform for the sharing of experiences and a foundation for practical action.

Enhancement of Research on Southeast Europe

In the field of research and co-operation the SOG invests much energy into developing partnerships and networks between persons, organisations and institutions in Southeastern Europe, Germany, and the community of international experts. We arrange contacts between German and Southeast European scholars of different fields. We also have close contacts to scientific institutions and experts from politics, business and the media in Southeastern Europe and in the German speaking area.
